JDM Senior Interview---Jason Basile

Digital Media Production major Jason Basile is a lover of all sports. A collegiate athlete, Jason called games for WRDL and anchored the Sports Break program on AUTV for the past four years. Jason interned at a radio station in the Sharon PA--Youngstown Ohio area, where he got to do play-by-play for local high school football games. JDM Senior Chelsea King interns at DRM Productions

Digital Media Production major Chelsea King just graduated from Ashland University. A final part of her curricula program is to complete an internship. Chelsea was chosen among many candidates to intern with DRM Productions in Mansfiled, Ohio. She will learn advanced skills in photography, videography and editing, along with client work. During her time at JDM, Chelsea worked for AUTV, The Collegian and WRDL. Her goal is to work professionally in the media industry as a video producer/editor.

JDM Again Places High in Journalism and Digital Media Academic Programs Rankings

The Ashland University Journalism and Digital Media program is increasingly gaining status among peers in both Ohio and national rankings. Learn.org lists Ashland University JDM as the 12th Best Media Production Program in the country while Journalism-schools.com places AU JDM in the top 30 percent of all Journalism programs in the nation. In Ohio ratings, JDM has the 4th Best Journalism program and the 5th Best Radio-Television program (Universities.com) and the 5th Best Radio, TV and Digital Communication degree in Ohio (Courseadvisor.com).

JDM Celebrates Fourteen May 2026 Graduates

The Journalism and Digital Media department is often setting records---multiple international, national and regional awards, increased content creation,graduates working professionally. This year is no different, as the department saw 14 of its finest walk across the stage during the Ashland University 2026 Commencement. That number reflects the most graduates at one time in the JDM era (2011 to 2026). Congratulations to these honored students: Josh Bachinsky, Jason Basile, Madison Ferrell, Bella Fredritz, Lauren Gulden, Mike Hopkins, Phillip Howman, Chelsea King, Elijah Mallett, Nick Olquin, Riley Purvis, Graham Scott, Joshua Spencer and Richard "Sam" Vincent.

JDM Senior Interview---Sam Vincent

Digital Media Journalism major Richard "Sam" Vincent enjoyed his media career with the Journalism and Digital Media department. Sam was a reporter for The Collegian, an on-air personality with WRDL, and a news anchor for AUTV. He is actively seeking a job either as a digital journalist or an on-air television reporter. JDM Senior Interview--Josh Bachinsky

The very versatile senior Digital Media Production major Josh Bachinsky has left his stamp on both AUTV televison and WRDL radio over the past four years. As AUTV's Production Director for the past two years, Josh kept the station's crews in running order. His hosting of The Early Bird's Word morning show for WRDL produced national recognition. Josh will return in the Fall 2026 semester to pursue an MBA at Ashland University's acclaimed College of Business. Watch his Senior Interview here .

JDM Senior Interview---Nick Olquin

Senior Digital Media Production major Nick Olquin has accomplished a great deal in his three years with the Journalism and Digtial Media program. Nick was a student management board member with both The Collegian and WRDL. But his passion has always been with television. Nick was the Program Director for AUTV this past year. He also was the Executive Producer for both the Good Afternoon Ashland and Eagles' Eye shows this year. He, along with fellow senior Lauren Gulden,created The Brightside series for AUTV. Senior Digital Media Journalism major Madison Ferrell sat down with her sister Freshmen Digital Media Production major Peyton Ferrell for the annual AUTV Eagles Eye Senior Interview show. Madison discussed her time at Ashland Unviersity and the highlights of her radio, television and newspaper career. She aspires to work as a broadcast journalist or in the marketing industry.
