A Blog Converged Update

On Sunday April 19th, Journalism and Digital Media department students, staff, faculty and co-curricular media organizations were honored at the 39th Annual Leadership and Service Awards event. Here are the nominees and winners: WRDL 88.9 was the winner of the Student Organization of the Year Kelly Meyer was the winner of the Emerging Faculty Member of the year Dashia Johnson won the Community and Belonging award JDM nominees were----John Skrada, Derek Wood, Kelly Meyer, Dana Krukovska, Aubrey Wood, Drake Crumley, Taylor Davidson, Chaden Sampson,and Joe Monteith. Both AUTV and The Collegian were nominees for Student Organization of the Year.

Several Journalism and Digital Media majors were recognized at the April 19th Ashland University Academic Honors Convocation. Sophomore Aubrey Wood, Junior Dashia Johnson and Senior Lauren Gulden received Department of Journalism and Digital Media awards and Sophomore Stephanie Holubetz received a Department of Religion award. Congratulations to these scholars.

At 12 am on Saturday April 18th, nationally-acclaimed student radio station WRDL begin its yearly 48 hour broadcast of only viynl records. Over 230 radio stations participate in this College Radio Foundation-sponsored event. The broadcast will conclude at midnight on Sunday April 19th. Tune in to 88.9 FM locally or listen at wrdlfm.com to stream the live signal.

It is not often that a current senior gets a full-time professional media position. But Lauren Gulden is not your average senior media student. Lauren is a four year anchor (and current Executive News Producer) for AUTV television. She is a former News Editor for The Collegian newspaper and a four year on-air personality for WRDL radio. Recently, she was offered a News Producer position with NBC 4 in Columbus, Ohio. She accepted and will begin her career in May....just a few days after she graduates with a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media Journalism. The JDM department wishes her well and good luck.

The Journalism and Digital Media department salutes its many dedicated and talented female students . They are the media leaders of tomorrow.
