The Collegian wins first-place in SCJ National Contest

Ashland University's student-run newspaper, The Collegian, has earned top national recognition, receiving first-place for Social Media Presence Overall Excellence from the Society for Collegiate Journalists. The Society for Collegiate Journalists is the nation's oldest honor society for student media leaders. SCJ hosts one of the most competitive and respected contests in collegiate media. The Journalism and Digital Media department and The Collegian's Faculty Advisor, Kelly Meyer, expresses pride in the staff and their continued work as student media leaders.

It is not often that a current senior gets a full-time professional media position. But Lauren Gulden is not your average senior media student. Lauren is a four year anchor (and current Executive News Producer) for AUTV television. She is a former News Editor for The Collegian newspaper and a four year on-air personality for WRDL radio. Recently, she was offered a News Producer position with NBC 4 in Columbus, Ohio. She accepted and will begin her career in May....just a few days after she graduates with a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media Journalism. The JDM department wishes her well and good luck.

JDM majors recognized at 2026 AU Academic Honors Convocation

Several Journalism and Digital Media majors were recognized at the April 19th Ashland University Academic Honors Convocation. Sophomore Aubrey Wood, Junior Dashia Johnson and Senior Lauren Gulden received Department of Journalism and Digital Media awards and Sophomore Stephanie Holubetz received a Department of Religion award. Congratulations to these scholars.
